Example: applying to 43 internal medicine programs costs (30 × $11) + (13 × $30) = $720, plus the $185 token. Fees are charged per specialty and reset for each additional specialty you apply to.

The 2027 ERAS season opens for applicants on June 4, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET, when you can begin building your MyERAS application. ERAS tokens become available on June 24, 2026. You can enter and refine your application before the September submission window.
Applicants may begin submitting MyERAS applications to programs on September 2, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET. However, programs cannot review applications or MSPEs until September 23, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET — so submitting early simply places your materials in line for the review opening; it does not get you reviewed sooner.
NRMP Main Match registration opens September 15, 2026 at 12 p.m. ET; standard registration closes January 29, 2027; the ranking period opens February 1, 2027; the Rank Order List certification deadline is March 3, 2027 at 9 p.m. ET; Match Week begins March 15, 2027 with did-you-match status at 10 a.m. ET; and Match Day is March 19, 2027 at 12 p.m. ET.
Match Day for the 2027 NRMP Main Residency Match is Friday, March 19, 2027, at 12 p.m. ET, when matched applicants learn where they matched. You learn whether you matched earlier in the week, on Monday, March 15, 2027, at 10 a.m. ET.
Beginning with the 2027 season the AAMC uses a simplified fee structure: the first 30 programs per specialty cost $11 each and programs beyond 30 cost $30 each, with pricing resetting for each additional specialty. There is also a $185 ERAS token. The Fee Assistance Program offers a 60% discount on up to 50 applications for those who qualify. As an example, 43 internal medicine programs cost (30 × $11) + (13 × $30) = $720, plus the token.
Begin in spring 2026, before MyERAS opens on June 4. Draft your personal statement and approach letter writers in April–May so you have polished documents ready well before the September 2 submission window. For 2027, letters of recommendation flow through the AAMC Letter Writer Portal.
If you are partially or fully unmatched, you may be eligible for SOAP — the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program — which runs March 15–18, 2027, with four offer rounds on March 18. Prepare a SOAP contingency plan in advance; see our SOAP strategy guide for the hour-by-hour playbook.
The 2027 ERAS season ends May 31, 2027 at 5 p.m. ET. Residency training for matched applicants typically begins July 1, 2027.
